Scenes¶
A Scene is a named, saved subset of the model — a chosen set of nodes, elements (bars, triangles, quads) and geometry objects. While a scene is active, the canvas behaves as if only those members exist: rendering, hit-testing, window selection, viewport-fit, and the loads/diagrams/ reactions overlays are all confined to the scene.
Scenes are saved inside the .x2d file, and each remembers its own zoom.
Switching scenes¶
Use the Scene menu or the Scene dropdown in the tool bar. Full model shows everything; selecting a scene confines the view to its members and restores that scene's saved zoom.
Creating and editing¶
From the Scene menu:
- New scene from selection… — select nodes/elements, then create a named scene from them.
- Add selection to scene ▸ — add the current selection to a chosen scene. This is typically done from Full model, where you can freely select objects outside any scene.
- Remove selection from scene — drop the current selection from the active scene.
- Update scene to selection — replace the active scene's members with the current selection.
- Rename scene… / Delete scene.
Behaviour with edits¶
- New geometry created while a scene is active (add node/element, paste) joins the active scene so it stays visible.
- Deleting geometry removes it from all scenes automatically; undo/redo keep scenes consistent with the model.
